EuroCham had the opportunity to attend HSBC Indonesia Day- Investment in the Spotlight: Igniting Indonesia’s Bright and Sustainable Future with the Ministry of Investment / Indonesia Investment of Coordinating Board (BKPM). The event featured keynote speeches from Nurul Ichwan (Deputy Minister for Investment Promotion of BKPM) , Francois de Maricourt (President Director of HSBC, and Chairman of EuroCham), who delivered the opening remarks highlighting Indonesia’s vision 2045 revolving around sustainable investment and Indonesia as the world’s largest economy, and Riko Tasmaya (Managing Director of Wholesale Banking of HSBC Indonesia)

The event also had an insightful panel discussion with distinguished speakers, including Deputy Minister Nurul Ichwan, Vishu Baldwa of Indorama, Lusia Buanawati of the Kraft Heinz Company, and Charles Kho of HSBC Indonesia.

On 30 May, EuroCham Indonesia had the opportunity to meet with the Head of Cooperation and Standardization Center, Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), Ministry of Religious Affairs, Bapak Abd. Syakur, at the BPJPH office in East Jakarta.

The discussion was commenced by Bapak Abd. Syakur and opened by Edison Bako, Executive Director of EuroCham. The meeting was attended by various working group representatives including Andri Kusandri (Director of Market Access and Government Affairs at Merck), Erike Yanidia (Regulatory Management & Trade Compliance Manager at Merck Chemicals and Life Sciences), Haqiki Aplesiasfika (EH&S Product Regulatory Specialist at Dow Chemicals), Woro Umayi Ananda (Regulatory Science Manager at Bayer Crop Science), Tono Eko Prayitno (Regulatory Affairs Manager at Unilever), and Mohamad Adnan Luthfi Jamali (Public Affairs Specialist at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners).

The objective of the meeting was to discuss current developments on the halal policy in Indonesia. We would like to thank Bapak Abd Syakur and his team (Ibu Petriana Santi, Bapak Zen, and Bapak Sukandar) for taking the time to have a constructive discussion. It is hoped that the dialogue can be done regularly in the future.
