EuroCham CEO Briefing on the Latest Update of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA)

On 13 April 2021, EuroCham organized a virtual CEO Briefing on “the Latest Update of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA)”. This exclusive event was specially designed for C-level executives of EuroCham’s Gold and Platinum members. The event was also attended by representatives of EuroCham’s Board and Heads and Deputies of the EuroCham Working Groups.

The event was opened and moderated by Wichard von Harrach (EuroCham Vice Chairman) who presented the keynote speaker for the event, Filip Deraedt (Deputy Chief Negotiator for the EU-Indonesia FTA) in his capacity as one of the key negotiators from the EU side. During the event Filip, provided an update as to the progress of the latest round of negotiations, the likelihood for a successful agreement and next steps. EuroCham plays an active role in promoting the benefits of a Free Trade Agreement between Indonesia and Europe. EuroCham also had previously submitted inputs and recommendation papers from the business perspective in relation to the IEU-CEPA to representatives of Indonesia and the EU.

HSBC Market Updates Webinar “Unleashing Indonesia's full potential-Road to Economic Recovery and Reforms”

On 31 March 2021, EuroCham supported HSBC, a Platinum Member of EuroCham, in a virtual event entitled, "Market Updates Live Webinar Unleashing Indonesia's Full Potential: Road to Economic Recovery and Reforms." Invitation to this event was extended to all EuroCham Gold and Platinum Members as well as the Heads and Deputy Heads of the EuroCham Working Groups who were extended the opportunity to join this exclusive event.

The panel was opened by Francois de Maricourt (President Director of PT Bank HSBC Indonesia) who gave an introduction on business resilience during the economic disruption caused by the pandemic. This was followed by a presentation from Ali Setiawan (Head of Global Markets and HSS from PT Bank HSBC Indonesia) who provided insights on the HSBC key economic indicators forecast for 2021. Stephen Igor Warokka (Partners, SSEK Legal Consultant) then gave a presentation on how the Omnibus Law drove Indonesia’s growth aspirations and debate on its effectiveness. This was followed by a presentation by Karyanto Wibowo (the Head of the EuroCham Sustainable Development Working Group and the Sustainability Director of Danone) who explained on how the ESG agenda will drive economic growth in future. The event concluded with closing remarks by Wichard von Harrach (Vice Chairman of Eurocham) and Eri Budiono (Head of Commercial Banking, PT Bank HSBC Indonesia).
