EuroCham Webinar: The Value of Modern Data Protection Regime for Indonesia’s Industries
On 30 March 2021, EuroCham organized a webinar on, "The Value of Modern Data Protection Regime for Indonesia’s Industries". The Webinar was formally opened by Eka Wahyuni (Senior Advocacy Manager, EuroCham), and was followed by presentations from the expert speakers: Clarisse Girot (Senior Fellow and Data Privacy Project Lead, Asian Business Law Institute/ABLI Singapore), Rofi Uddarojat (Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, IdEA), and Ardhanti Nurwidya (Public Policy and Government Relations, Gojek). The discussion was moderated by Antoine Schweitzer-Chaput (Head of EuroCham Technology Working Group and Country MD of IDEMIA Indonesia). During the discussion, over a 100 participants were actively engaged in the lively interaction about the potential benefits and challenges in the implementation of data protection for businesses as well as reiterated the importance of convergence of the data protection regimes.
EuroCham – SSEK Event #2 on Employment
On 30 March, the 2nd series of the Policy Dialogue on Manpower Regulations was concluded. The event was hosted by the EuroCham Human Resources Working Group, and was opened by the Head of Working Group, Paramita Wijaya (Head of HR at BASF Indonesia). The event was carried out in collaboration with SSEK Legal Consultants, and invited external speakers that provided updates on the topic. During the event, Hendry Wijaya (Head of Law and Regulation Section 1, Legal Bureau - Ministry of Manpower) presented Government Regulation No. 35 of 2021 (GR 35/2021) on Definite Period Employment Agreements (PKWT), Outsourcing, Working and Resting Hours and Termination of Employment (PHK). An interative virtual discussion followed that was moderated by Stephen Igor Warokka (Partner at SSEK Legal Consultants) and gave participants a better understanding of the provisions associated with the new regulation. The discussion also provided member companies the opportunity to directly discuss the issues with the Ministry’s representative.
