Technology WG Webinar - Electronic Certificate and Digital Signature: Are We Ready?
Through the implementation of the Work-From-Home policy, we are required to utilize IT and transform digitally, but are we ready? EuroCham Technology Working Group together with EuroCham Finance, Tax, and Investment Working Group held a webinar on 28 July 2020 to try to address this. The Webinar is part of the Technology Webinar Series that seeks to discuss the impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic on digital transformation by companies and the applicable acceleration needed.
The session was moderated by Leonard Anilaputra Eggert (EuroCham Deputy Head for Finance, Tax, and Investment Working Group and Chief Representative Indonesia of LBBW) and enlivened by two distinguished speakers, Riki Arif Gunawan (Head of Subdivision of Electronic Certification Service Provider, Ministry of Communication and Informatics) and Antoine Schweitzer (EuroCham Head of Technology Working Group and Country Head of IDEMIA). The discussion scrutinized on how companies can implement the digital way of doing business by using electronic certificates and digital signatures.
Intellectual Property Working Group Meeting
The EuroCham Intellectual Property Working Group conducted a virtual meeting on 23 July 2020 to jointly discuss the topic of "Patent of Second Medical Use." The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of new efficacy discovery of known drugs due to the urgency of combating the pandemic, and therefore discussion about the exclusion of second medical use from the Patent Law No 13 of 2016 is now becoming very relevant to the current situation. To provide an overview of the topic, the group also invited as the guest speaker, Douglas Clark (Principal and Global Head of Dispute Resolution of Rouse) to share his experience about the problem with medical use patent as well as the solution pertinent with discovery of new medical uses of known compounds which is very valuable. The overall discussion was moderated by Kin-Wah Chow (Head of Intellectual Property Working Group) who also presented his views related to the topic.
