Energy Working Group: Meeting with KADIN Renewable Committee
On 17 April 2018 Eurocham Energy Working organized a focus group discussion with Kadin Renewable Energy Committee to discuss and seek alignment on the input submission for the Negative Investment List. Major concern being shared was more about the limitation for Power Generation 1 – 10 MW capacities with maximum foreign ownership of 49% under the current regulations.
While Eurocham acknowledged that such limitation was most likely targeted for diesel or other type fossil generator, the limitation was actually hurt renewable energy development as most of renewable power generation are 10 MW or below. Looking at the latest technology advancement worldwide, Indonesia will face significant challenges to catch up as well as finding local partners to fulfill the remaining of shares. Eurocham energy working group views that such limitation is in fact counterproductive to renewable energy development in Indonesia.
