Transport and Logistics Working Group Meeting
The tax and finance sub-group within the Transport and Logistics Working Group held their regular meeting on Monday, 15 April 2019. The first topic of this meeting was the issuance of the Minister of Finance Regulation No. 32/PMK.010/2019 on Scope of Activities and Taxable Exported Services that should be imposed by VAT that has been effective since March 2019. According to this regulation, Freight Forwarding Services for export purposes is subject to 0% VAT. However, member companies assessed that some clarifications regarding the implementation is required at the technical level.
In the second session, the group also invited Mitra Pajakku to provide updates on electronic tax certificate (e-bukti potong) and integration of commercial invoice and tax invoice, along with discussion updates on host to host. Mitra Pajakku in this opportunity was represented by Devinta Bastian and Hartanto. Overall discussion was moderated by Sugyanto Halim from DB Schenker as the Deputy Head for Tax, Finance, and Investment of the Transport and Logistics Working Group.
Discussion on Enforcement and Protection of Intellectual Property Rights
On 11 April 2019, EuroCham Intellectual Property (IP) organized a discussion on “Encouraging Innovation through Development of IP Protection and Enforcement”. The discussion was opened by EuroCham Executive Director, Mr. Samuel Siahaan and moderated by EuroCham Head of IP Working Group, Mr. Kin Wah Chow of Rouse. To compliment the discussion, EuroCham invited guest speakers that represented IP Enforcer perspectives from Metro Jaya Regional Police Office, Customs and Excise, and from Law Practitioner represented by Indonesia IP Attorneys Association (AKHKI), and also representative of business side.
Mr. Roberto Pasaribu, Head of Subdirectorate of Cyber Crimes under Directorate of Special Crime Investigation of Metro Jaya Regional Police Office, provided some background on how current development of cyber technology can be used in infringement of IP. Mr. Affinutha Vera representing the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of DG Customs and Excise, explained about the Ex-officio scheme for IP Protection at the border. Representing business perspective was Mr. Koon Yeow Lui from P&G who shared his point of views as Brand Protection expert. In addition, AKHKI was represented by its Deputy Secretary General, Ms. Juliane Sari Manurung who touched upon the importance of IP Protection particularky to encourage innovation.
