President Jokowi Welcomes EU-ASEAN Business Council Mission to Indonesia

EuroCham Indonesia welcomes EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) Mission to Indonesia on 26-29 November 2019, which this year aims to Advancing Partnerships for Innovation and Inclusive Growth. EU-ABC and EuroCham as the primary voice for European business within the ASEAN region and Indonesia, together with more than 35 business delegates from leading European companies received a warm welcome from the Indonesian Government and leading politicians.

The delegates had the honor to have a dialogue with President Joko Widodo not long after his inauguration of his second term. At the meeting, the President elaborated his upcoming priorities and encouraged European businesses to play a greater role in the inclusive economic development of the country, particularly in areas linked to sustainability, human capital development, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The mission also successfully facilitated fruitful discussions with President’s new lineup cabinets: (1) Minister of Research and Technology, (2) Minister of Finance, (3) Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, (4) Minister of Industry, (5) Minister of Transport and other high ranking officials from (1) Ministry of Agriculture; (2) Ministry of Communication and Informatics; (3) Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy; (4) BAPPENAS; (5) BKPM; (6) Ministry of Health; (7) DG Customs and Excise; and, (8) OJK.

Socialization on New Regulation on Prevention and Mitigation of Chemical Emergencies

EuroCham was invited by the Ministry of Industry to a Socialization on the newly issued Minister of Industry Regulation No. 19 of 2019 on Prevention and Mitigation of Chemical Emergencies Related to Chemical Industry Business Activities. The socialization took place on 6 November 2019 at Hotel Puri Denpasar in Jakarta.

Mr. Fridy Juwono, Director of the Chemical Upstream Industry, Directorate General of Chemical, Textile and Pharmaceutical Industries, opened the event by delivering an opening remarks as well as announcing several Verification Agencies that have been appointed by the Minister of Industry to verify the Prevention and Mitigation of Chemical Emergencies Document namely Surveyor Indonesia, Sucofindo, and Oil Spill Combat Team (OSCT). The socialization was intended to prepare companies engaged in chemical industry in complying with this regulation that now has been effective since 13 November 2019. Main topic that is being discussed was the procedure in preparing the Prevention and Mitigation of Chemical Emergencies Document that must be submitted by companies, as well as procedure for its verification by the appointed Verification Agency.
