CMA CGM Combating Wildlife Trafficking
EuroCham Indonesia had the pleasure of attending “United Against Wildlife Trafficking: Celebrating One-Year of Impact in Combating Wildlife Trafficking in Indonesia” at Novotel Lampung on 2 July. This event was officially commenced by remarks from Ikram Ghazali, President Director of CMA CGM Indonesia, and followed by the sharing of the initiative’s results by the partners.
The event displayed the ongoing partnership between CMA CGM (esteemed EuroCham Gold member), the Ministry of Forestry, and the Wildlife Conservation Society that has been established since 2024 to avert illicit trade of plants and wildlife for biodiversity conservation. The partnership is primarily stationed in Bakauheni Port and Bitung Port and has supported 39 joint operations, securing 957 endangered animals from illegal trade, of which 770 have been released into their natural habitat. The event also brought attention to their Wildlife Detection Dog program, where specially trained dogs help authorities detect protected wildlife and wildlife products hidden in cargo shipments.
EuroCham highly commends CMA CGM's commitment in strengthening safeguards across logistics and supply chain and extends its profound appreciation for this impactful event invitation.
