EuroCham Chemical WG Meeting with Directorate of Upstream Chemical Industry, Ministry of Industry
On Tuesday, 9 June 2026, the EuroCham Chemical Working Group held a meeting with the Directorate of Upstream Chemical Industry of the Ministry of Industry. Led by Haqiki Aplesiasfika, Deputy Head of the Chemical Working Group, the discussion focused on updates concerning halal certification in the chemical industry. The meeting further followed up on the Working Group’s recommendations submitted on 7 May 2026, as well as discussions previously held with the Halal Industry Center on 22 April 2026.

Public Consultation on BPOM draft regulation concerning the Supervision of the Importation of Drugs and Food into the Territory of Indonesia
On June 8, 2026, BPOM held a Public Consultation forum to discuss a draft regulation: the Second Amendment to BPOM Regulation No. 27 of 2022 concerning the supervision of the importation of drugs and foods into Indonesian territory. The meeting was hosted by the Directorate of Standardization of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics (OTSK) due to the discussion being merely on cosmetic products.
Key changes include: adjusted shelf‑life requirements for imported products (e.g., biologics from 9 to 7 months, and a new “one‑third or 6 months” rule for traditional medicines, quasi‑medicines, supplements, and cosmetics); new provisions for import permits (SKI) in free trade zones (Sabang, Batam) and bonded zones (TPB); new requirements for product photos and labels; reduction of maximum items per customs notification from 20 to 10; and clarification of personal use limits (e.g., cosmetics up to 20 pieces or USD 500).
Stakeholders from customs (Bea Cukai), free trade zone authorities (Sabang), industry associations (APKI, GPFI, GAPMI, APSKI, GP Jamu), and BPOM internal units provided extensive feedback. BPOM invited written comments until June 19, 2026, via JDIH.
