On 1 July, EuroCham Indonesia participated in a public consultation on the Minister of Industry Draft Regulation on Procedures for Issuing Recommendations for Registered Exporters, Recommendations for Producer Importers, and Technical Considerations for Importing Non-Pharmaceutical Precursor Commodities.

Organized by the Directorate General of Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Textile Industries, the public consultation provided insights on changes in recommendation issuance for non-pharmaceutical precursor commodities, including in terms of industry capability verification, verification bodies as well as updates on administrative sanctions.

EuroCham members in the Chemical Working Group attended the consultation and remain committed to providing constructive feedback on draft regulations.

On 1 July, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) invited foreign Chambers of Commerce, including EuroCham, to attend “Indonesian Halal Regulations and Implementation: Opportunities and Challenges for Foreign Investors”. The forum featured Dr. M Fariza Y Irawady, SE. MM. Expert Staff for Public Relations of Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH).

The representative from the foreign chambers of commerce had the chance to discuss the readiness of BPJPH for the next implementation; the updated Foreign Halal Certification Bodies that have signed MRA with BPJPH; and asked about lists of regulations that need to be issued to support the implementation.
