FGD on Employers Compliance Strategy in the Use of Foreign Workers and its Protection Aspects
EuroCham was invited to a virtual Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled, “Employers Compliance Strategy in the Use of Foreign Workers and its Protection Aspects (Strategi Kepatuhan Pemberi Kerja dalam Penggunaan Tenaga Kerja Asing dan Aspek Perlindungannya)”, which was organized by the Directorate of Labor Norms Inspection of the Ministry of Manpower on July 26, 2022. The event began with opening remarks delivered by the Director of Labor Norms Inspection, Yuli Adiratna, S.H., M.Hum. and discussed three main topics, namely: 1) Labor Norms Self Assessment by the Company and Supervisory and Management of Foreign Worker Utilization, 2) Immigration Policies regarding Foreign Workers and 3) Employment Social Security Protection for Foreign Workers. This event seeks to enhance employer’s compliance for the use of foreign workers as well as clarify the development of foreign worker utilization norms across Indonesia. Attendees were given the opportunity to post questions related to the respective subjects during the event.
Meeting Between EuroCham & World Bank
EuroCham had the opportunity to meet with Angella Faith Montfaucon, Ph.D. , Economist, from the World Bank, who was accompanied by Assyifa Szami Ilman from the World Bank. The Meeting discussed the impact of the Omnibus Law and its implementing regulations on trade as well as manpower-related aspects to European businesses in Indonesia. The meeting was attended by Paramita Dewi Wijaya of BASF and the HR Working Group Head along with the EuroCham advocacy team who shared insights on behalf of the member companies. EuroCham welcomes World Bank’s invitation to exchange views and updates as well as collaborate to improve market access and business conditions in Indonesia.
