Drafting of Roadmap for Modernization of Truck Fleet in Indonesiaa

On 31 August 2021, EuroCham was invited by the Ministry of Transportation to a consultation event for the drafting of a roadmap on modernization of the truck fleet in Indonesia. This event is part of the collaboration between the Directorate General of Land Transport of Indonesia with the Germany Government through GIZ TRANSfer III Program. The meeting was opened by the Director General of Land Transport of Indonesia, Budi Setiyadi, which was followed by a presentation about the TRANSfer III Program and the Draft Roadmap for Modernization of Truck Fleet in Indonesia by the GIZ.

This meeting highlighted that modernization of truck fleet will reduce air pollution and increase energy efficiency. A successful modernization of truck fleet program is the responsibility of all elements within the government as well as the private sector. Therefore, drafting of a roadmap should not only consider the benefit from the modernization of truck fleet but also anticipates impacts to industry players and other stakeholders. A roadmap is hoped can be used as a guideline for the implementation schedule.

Technical Meeting on Piloting Project for Integration of Commercial and Tax Invoice with Director of Technology Information and Communication of the Directorate General of Tax

On 26 August 2021, representatives of the EuroCham Transport and Logistics Working Group and Finance, Tax, and Investment Working Group met the Directorate General of Tax to discuss the technicality for the pilot project proposed by EuroCham to integrate the company’s commercial invoices with the Tax Invoices. The Directorate General of Tax during this meeting is represented by Iwan Djuniardi (Director of Technology, Information and Communication of the Directorate General of Tax, Ministry of Finance), as well I Made Sugiada and number of officials from the Directorate of Technology, Information and Communication. Iwan Djuniardi mentioned that proposal from EuroCham is welcomed by the Directorate General of Tax considering that the Directorate General of Tax also would like to encourage new tax innovations to provide easiness to taxpayers.

During this meeting EuroCham presented the proposed business process that would enable further integration of commercial invoice issued by member companies with the tax invoices. This process would involve Tax Application Service Providers appointed by the taxpayers to help open host to host interconnection with the Directorate General of Tax. As a response, the Directorate General of Tax in this meeting agreed that preparation for the piloting project to establish the new system can be started by involving EuroCham member company, DB Schenker. After this piloting project is running, the Directorate General of Tax will further expand and open the system to other member companies who are interested to participate.
