The 1st Annual Working Group Meeting of the German-Indonesian Dialogue on Quality Infrastructure

On 25 August 2021 EuroCham was invited to the Kickoff Meeting and first Annual Working Group Meeting of the German-Indonesian Dialogue on Quality Infrastructure. The event was hosted jointly by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ministry of Industry (MoI) of the Republic of Indonesia. The German-Indonesian Dialogue on Quality Infrastructure was established by BMWi and MoI in 2021 with the aim to reduce technical trade barriers, increase product safety and strengthen consumer protection. The BMWi has commissioned the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH to support the implementation of the German-Indonesian Dialogue and the organization of its annual Working Group Meeting as part of the Global Project Quality Infrastructure (GPQI).

The collaboration enables German and Indonesian policy-makers, industry and technical organizations to discuss opportunities and challenges regarding technical market access barriers in the fields of standardization, conformity assessment, accreditation and product safety. The joint platform for technical and political dialogues is not only open to but aims to closely and actively involve companies and industry associations of both countries.

Food and Beverages Sub-Working Group Meeting: New Elected Head of Working Group

On Friday, 20 August 2021, the members of the Food and Beverages Working Group met to discuss several updates on latest development in the industry. The meeting was chaired by the Head and Deputy Head of Working Group, Doni Wibisono Wiroto (Frisian Flag Indonesia) and Dendy Borman (Diageo Indonesia). Topics covered in the meeting including policy updates related with COVID-19 Pandemic; and sectoral regulations in the food and beverages sectors. This meeting also discussed on implementation of the Indonesia National Standard (SNI) as well as Halal Certification that also impacted food and beverages sector. As the last agenda, an election was held for the Head of the Working Group. The member of the working group during this meeting agreed to elect Ruly Rahman (Frisian Flag Indonesia) as the new head of the Working Group, who will be replacing the former working group head Doni Wironto (Frisian Flag Indonesia), who has stepped down from the leadership position as per 20 August 2021.
