Public Consultation on Draft Government Regulation on Halal Product Assurance
EuroCham Indonesia was invited by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on 13 January 2021 to a public consultation to discuss inputs on the draft Government Regulation on Halal Product Assurance, as one the implementing regulations of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation. The discussions were led by the Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and the Indonesia Employers Association (APINDO), wherein businesses were represented by relevant sectoral associations and business councils/chambers. Meanwhile, the Halal Assurance Agency (BPJPH) also attended the event in its capacity as the government’s counterpart.
Numerous inputs were thoroughly discussed by businesses throughout the 5-hours long meeting wherein some inputs were accommodated while others were reasoned not to be accommodated. The latest draft is based on the discussion and is subject for further harmonization amongst the government institutions, which aim to also take place in January.
Meeting with the Deputy Head of the Indonesian Trade Safeguard Committee on Apparels Products Safeguard Investigations
The EuroCham Retail Working Group conducted a virtual courtesy meeting with the Indonesia Trade Safeguard Committee (Komite Pengamanan Perdagangan Indonesia/KPPI) on Monday, 30 November 2020. The Meeting was chaired by Sutoyo (Deputy Head of KPPI), who was accompanied by Ilham Adinusa (Head of Investigator of the KPPI). During the Meeting, the Deputy Head of KPPI, confirmed that his institution is in the early stage of safeguard investigations on apparels and apparels accesories products. KPPI is also currently collecting inputs from various stakholders whereby inputs from EuroCham will be noted to be further discussed by the KPPI team.
KPPI also warmly welcomed further submission of written inputs for the investigation conducted by KPPI.
