Launching of EuroCham Technology Working Group
On 19 March 2019, EuroCham launched the highly anticipated Technology Working Group. The rapid developments of technology in recent years means that the topic has become increasingly more important for businesses around the globe, and Indonesia is no exception. As a voice of European business in Indonesia, EuroCham believes in supporting both the Government and its member companies by way of policy advocacy, to contribute to the development of technology-related regulatory framework.
The introduction of EuroCham and Technology Working Group was given by Wichard von Harrach as the Board Patron. Afterwards, Alexander Kurth from Allianz Indonesia delivered an interesting presentation on Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Analytics. Despite its new establishment, the group will also launch its own Position Paper this year, with primary focus on important topics of Data Science, FinTech, Data Privacy, Industry 4.0, and foundation for Technology. The discussion on Position Paper was led by Aston Goad as the Head of the working group.
Pharma & Medtech WG: Meeting with DG Industry of Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Textiles
The Pharma & Medtech Working Group visited Directorate General of Industry of Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Textiles at the Ministry of Industry on 5 March 2019. As part of courtesy meeting and EuroCham introduction, the meeting also discussed the development within pharmaceutical business. The Working Group had the opportunity to have this discussion with Taufiek Bawazier, Director of Downstream Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry.
Furthermore, the Working Group also conveyed their concerns related with the regulatory framework, including Halal Implementation, Pharma 4.0, Compulsory License, Local Content Regulations, and Salt Pharmaceutical Industry. Regular meeting between EuroCham and the DG will be followed up to ensure a more constructive dialogue in the policymaking process.
