Talk Show: Together We Protect Marine Life #EUBeachCleanUp 2021

On 18 September 2021, a Talk Show entitled “Together We Protect Marine Life #EUBeachCleanUp 2021” was organized by the EU Delegation and supported by EuroCham. This event seeks to support an ocean-activism and awareness-raising campaign - #EUBeachCleanup and was opened by a speech from the Ambassador of the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, H.E. Vincent Piket, and Nani Hendriarty from the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment. The session wants to convey the need to protect the biodiversity of our oceans from marine litter and plastic pollution. The main theme of the Event was, “Together to Protect Marine Life”.

The talkshow, which was moderated by Prita Laura, involved speakers from the Indonesian government, influencers, NGOs, and youth activists. Representing the perspectives of industry was Karyanto Wibowo, the Head of EuroCham Sustainable Development Working Group from Danone who conveyed how businesses can help prevent plastic waste and stressed the need for collaboration from all sides to overcome marine litter and plastic pollution. Sharing Session - EU General Framework on Cosmetics

On 15 September 2021, EuroCham held a Sharing Session on EU Cosmetic Regulations. The webinar was held in collaboration with L’Oreal Indonesia and was opened with remarks from Hernie Raharja, Executive Board Member of EuroCham and Board Patron of the Cosmetics Working Group, Giulia Ciarlo, Associate Director Product Public Affairs of L'Oréal, and Rachmi Setyorini, Director of Standardization of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplement, and Cosmetics of the National Agency for Food and Drug Control (BPOM).

Moderated by Rhadeya Setiawan, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Director (L'Oréal Indonesia), this sharing session presented an expert speaker, namely Roman Mokry, Policy Officer, Health, Technology, and Cosmetics from the European Commission. Roman shared his views on the General Framework of EU Amendments and Requirements, and the decision making as well as amendment process to the Annexes, CMR substances, Cosmetic notification process in EU, as well as EU requirements for labeling of products with ingredients releasing Formaldehyde; and products with human secretome. The session was held exclusively for BPOM and was attended by representatives from the Directorate of Standardization, Registration, and Supervision as well as the Chief Inspector, Mayagustina Andarini. The event also attended by Prof. Dr. dr. Purwantyastuti, MSc, SpFK and Prof. Apt. Enade Perdana Istyastono Ph.D as part of the experts from BPOM.
