Discussion on New Compulsory License Regulation with DGIP

On 6 March 2019 EuroCham participated in discussion meeting with Mrs. Dede Mia Yusanti as Director of Patent at the DGIP. Represented by Ms. Hanum Yahya (Pharmaceutical and MedTech WG) and also Ms. Tania Lovita (IP WG), EuroCham discussed the newly issued Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 39 of 2018 on Patent Compulsory License.

The representatives of industries and chambers addressed their concerns from various business perspectives including from Technology and Pharmaceutical sectors. There are some important updates mentioned in the meeting including the plan to further regulate compulsory license through an implementing regulation.

Sharing Session on Development of Competition Law in Indonesia

On Thursday, 21 February 2019, EuroCham invited Mr. Ignatius Andy from Ignatius Andy Law Offices to present and share latest “Development of Competition Law in Indonesia”. The parliament is currently drafting a new Anti-Monopoly Law that would introduce some new changes in the stipulations. As this topic is relevant for all businesses, awareness about the upcoming main changes are important. The key changes add more authorities to the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) that can be applied to business who violates stipulations in the draft law. The session also discussed how the private sector can ensure compliance without restricting company’s business activities. In general, EuroCham member companies would support a fair business competition that would benefit the general public.
