Energy Working Group: Meeting with KADIN Renewable Committee

On 17 April 2018 Eurocham Energy Working organized a focus group discussion with Kadin Renewable Energy Committee to discuss and seek alignment on the input submission for the Negative Investment List. Major concern being shared was more about the limitation for Power Generation 1 – 10 MW capacities with maximum foreign ownership of 49% under the current regulations.

While Eurocham acknowledged that such limitation was most likely targeted for diesel or other type fossil generator, the limitation was actually hurt renewable energy development as most of renewable power generation are 10 MW or below. Looking at the latest technology advancement worldwide, Indonesia will face significant challenges to catch up as well as finding local partners to fulfill the remaining of shares. Eurocham energy working group views that such limitation is in fact counterproductive to renewable energy development in Indonesia.

Agriculture, Food & Beverages Working Group Meeting

Due to broad coverage of issues within Agriculture, Food & Beverages Working Group, the working group will have specific meetings on agriculture to execute more effective discussion. This approach will also apply to the Food & Beverage sector that about to have specific meetings in the near future.

This first meeting for agriculture sector was commenced on 13 April 2018 at EuroCham office and discussed various issues in the agriculture sector. Led by Ms. Devi Kusumaningtyas (DuPont), the meeting discussed issues related to direction of advocacy effort for the agricultural sector, as well as the strategy to further optimize the overall advocacy effort for the highly-regulated agricultural. The members agreed on the issues that will be addressed by EuroCham, including best practice technology, trading for agriculture products, investment in the agriculture sector. These various issues will be further detailed and corresponded with the relevant government institutions.
