Introductory Meeting with the BPOM's New Deputy
On 15 March 2018, EuroCham Cosmetics Working Group had the privilege to meet with Ms. Maya Gustina Andarini, the newly-appointed Deputy for the Supervision of Traditional Medicine, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics of the National Agency of Drugs and Food Control (BPOM).
The meeting was opened by Mr. Umesh Padke (EuroCham Board Member, L’Oreal Indonesia), to introduce EuroCham and the Cosmetics Working Group at a glance. The introduction continued by Ms. Uti Daniawati Mahanani (Head of Cosmetics Working Group, Unilever Indonesia), with the explanation on Cosmetics working group in more detail.
The meeting also discussed about the proposed activities in 2018, as well as current issues faced by the Working Group. Both EuroCham and BPOM expressed their desire to maintain close relationship and more frequent communication to complement each other in improving the regulatory environment in Indonesia.
New Cargo Manifest Regulation
On 14 March 2018, the Transport and Logistics Working Group with the Indonesia Logistics and Forwarder Association (ALFI) organized a joint assessment with other cargo industry’s players on Minister of Finance Regulation No. 159/PMK.04/2017 on the Delivery of Inward Notices, Inward Manifests and Outward Manifests.
Few airlines and ground handling agent were invited to share expertise and technical knowledge regarding the current inward cargo manifest procedures, particularly in the airfreight side. The aim is to jointly formulate recommendations to improve current procedures and prevent potential delays due to redress issues, which apparently can be caused due to the use of different electronic systems by all parties involved such as airlines as the carrier, ground handling agent, Customs, and the forwarders.
