Agriculture, Food and Beverages Working Group Meeting

On Tuesday, 16 July 2019 the members of the Agriculture, Food and Beverages Working Group met to jointly discuss priority topics of the sectors. The group closely monitor the development and implementation of halal law, as well as other topics relevant for the sector such as plan to implement plastic excise, development of policy framework on sugar, industrial salt, fat, and draft bill on water resources. The group also briefly discuss the ongoing tension on palm oil that might be affecting the European business community. During the meeting, the group also agreed to closely monitor the ongoing process of revision of Law on Cultivation. On this topic, the group also plan to submit few key recommendations to be presented to relevant stakeholders.

Discussion on Draft Regulation Personal Data Protection

On 2 July 2019, EuroCham participated in a Focus Group Discussion on Personal Data Protection Bill hosted by ELSAM. This activity presents three speakers, consisting of: Arianne Jimenez (Privacy and Public Policy Manager, APAC at Facebook), Ulfah Diah Susanti (Head of the governance section for the application of Personal Data Protection, Ministry of Communication and Information), and Wahyudi Djafar (Institute for Policy Research and Advocacy ‐ ELSAM). The discussion identifies actual challenges in protecting personal data in Indonesia, especially those related to the information and communication technology. This meeting was also intended to gather advices and inputs, especially on a number of strategic issues, to become recommendation material in the process of discussing the Personal Data Protection Bill. The development of this draft regulation is very relevant and has been closely monitored also by both of the EuroCham Technology and Intellectual Property Working Groups.
