World Bank: The Launch of Indonesia Economic Prospects

On the 16th of December, EuroCham was invited by the World Bank for the launch of the Indonesia Economic Prospects (IEP), December 2024 Edition. The IEP, a bi-annual flagship report, provides an objective and comprehensive analysis of Indonesia’s macroeconomic developments, policies, and outlook, alongside key thematic challenges facing the nation's economy.

The event began with opening remarks from Carrie Turk (Country Director for the World Bank Indonesia and Timor-Leste) followed by a welcome address by Tim Stapleton (Minister Counsellor at the Australian Embassy in Indonesia). A keynote address was delivered by Thomas A. M. Djiwandono (Vice Minister of Finance).

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the report by senior World Bank economists, Wael Mansour and Rong Qian, which was followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring representatives from DDTC, the University of Indonesia, and the Indonesia Business Council. The discussion was expertly moderated by Lars Christian Moller (Manager for the East Asia and Pacific Region at the World Bank).

IPMG Stakeholders Forum

On December 12, EuroCham had the privilege of participating in the IPMG Stakeholders Forum 2024: National Strategy for Innovative Medicines, held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. Themed "Health for Wealth: Forging a New Path towards Indonesia Emas 2045," the event provided a platform for meaningful discussions on advancing healthcare in Indonesia.

The Forum featured keynote addresses by H.E. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Health, and Prof. Dr. Taruna Ikrar, Head of the National Agency of Drug and Food Control. They emphasized the importance of access, quality, and affordability of innovative medicines as critical components for strengthening Indonesia's healthcare resilience.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Evie Yulin, Vice Chairman of IPMG, Board Member of EuroCham, and President Director of Merck, a distinguished EuroCham gold member.
