On 5 June, EuroCham met with Marianna Molna from DG Trade of the EU Commission and Marika Jakas from the Trade Section at the EU Delegation to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.

The meeting discussed developments related to Indonesia’s import mechanism, specifically Minister of Trade Regulation No. 8 of 2024 on Import Provision and Regulation, and Presidential Regulation No. 61 of 2024 on Commodity Balance. The meeting also provided insights into the I-EU CEPA negotiations and potential benefits and implications on trade between Indonesia and the EU.

EuroCham was represented by members including Daniel Purba (Inchcape Indonesia), Nitya Wulandari (Michelin Indonesia), Lea Indra (Signify Indonesia), Ridwan Siregar (Ericsson Indonesia), Rahayu Ferlina (BASF Indonesia), and the EuroCham advocacy team led by Firman Eko (Senior Advocacy Officer).

EuroCham attended the 11th ASEAN Economic Community Dialogue: Governing and Unlocking the AI Opportunities in ASEAN, on 4 June, organized by the ASEAN Secretariat and ERIA.

The discussion explored key issues such as regulatory frameworks for

AI Development and deployment, and the role of governments in promoting responsible AI practices.

The event was opened by H.E. Nararya S. Soeprapto, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs; Daisuke Nakayama, Chief Manager, ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre; Dr. Jasmine Begum, Regional Director of Government Affairs and Legal Microsoft ASEAN.

This was followed by an insightful panel discussion featuring distinguished speakers: Dr. I Nyoman Adhiarna, Secretary of the Directorate-General of Informatics Applications, Ministry of Communications and Informatics of Indonesia; Dr. Lili Yan Ing, Senior Economist of ERIA; Alex Högback, Project Manager of International Telecommunication Union
